The best way to achieve peace on earth is to make inner peace a priority. And the only way to make inner peace a priority is to slow down enough to make room for it in our incredibly busy lives. In each moment, unbeknownst to us, we are making a choice for peace or for war--because one of the biggest obstacles to inner peace is the war we are constantly waging on ourselves, each other and Life ItSelf with our limiting and negative beliefs. Many of us are very concerned about the state of this world, but often feel at a loss to know what to do to improve our situation. What can one person do, we wonder? We can make a choice for peace within. We can understand that every person who makes this choice is a powerful force for change. Our true nature as human beings is to be peaceful, contrary to popular opinion and our proclivity to always be in one war or another. But as we come to really see that outer wars (whether they be between family members or nations) stem from how we feel about and are treating ourselves in each moment, then we have a chance to take on the challenge of being Peacemakers. This will involve a ruthless investigation into our own psyches to find the roots of self-hatred. People who love themselves do not blame, judge, criticize or abuse self or others. People who love themselves make love and not war. We are a people who desperately need love and continue to look for it in all the wrong places. This is what self-hate does. It can't imagine that love can be found inside our own hearts. It thinks we don't deserve it…must endlessly work to improve ourselves before we can have it….and believes punishment is the solution to all our failures…. Love, on the other hand, knows we deserve It here, now, just as we are. This is what we discover when we make inner peace a priority. When we stop waiting for someone outside of us to save us. When we take the reins of responsibility into our own hands and consciously embark on the most powerful and rewarding journey of our lives: To create peace within.
